A Study on Apatite from Mesozoic Alkaline Intrusive Complexes, Central High Atlas, Morocco

There are abundant phosphate mines in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Gem-quality apatite is produced at Anemzi deposit, but its associated gem mineralogy relatively poorly studied. In this study, from mine Morocco was analysed using standard gemmological characterisation methods, including basic tests (hardness, relative density, microscopy, etc.), spectroscopic (infrared, Raman, and ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy), chemical analyses (electron probe laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry). This paper explores characteristics Moroccan apatites information on diagenesis recorded for by comparing them with other sources. Apatite deposit an igneous fluorapatite. The high Cl content suggests that magma area has a content, whereas Cl/F ratio may indicate formed slab subduction environment. major trace elements oxygen sulphur escapes apatite-forming magma.
